We want this maps page to really interactive with lots of reviews by various frag heads so get going and start writing those reviews. In the reviews make a note of the textures, weapons spread, how fast the map plays etc. but most importantly "THE FUN FACTOR" as that's what its all about.

Well I`ll have to say that this level was great, its only small but has multi levels.Playing with 8 bots was a complete blood bath, if you're a camper you will hate this level.Life expectancy on this map is not very long even if you're a Quake II god, you just cant look every where all the time, the enemy just comes at you from all angles. The author has made good use of a blue lighting effect on the edge of the steps and on the teleportals, which brightens up the other bland textures.

Arena 1
 arena01.zip    113K    10th May 1998
2 - 4 Players      Created By: Unknown.
A very simple design that is essentially a square Arena with a tower in each corner, accessed by a lift. In the center is a large pool leading to an underwater tunnel to a smaller pool. Simple and highly effective. All the weapons except the two Plasma Cell weapons are included and the layout is fantastic. The only gripe (don't let this put you off) is a slight texture bug that means you can see people in the towers through some of the walls, rather than through the window. This is a Great level that grows on you all the time. Get It 1
K.I.T.H.
A very good map, didn't like this the first time we played it, but it really grows on you. The towers are great and the fun to be had shooting tower to tower is great. Rail Gun marksmen and Rocket freaks will love this !

Armageddon 5
 arma5.zip    931K    20th April 1998
2 - 16 Players      Created By: Matthias Worch
This is one hell of a level, great architecture, texturing and good layout. The frag filled areas include a warehouse , wide open water filled rooms, narrow hallways and outdoor fragpits. The BFG is a little too easy to get for my liking but the ammo is limited. I played this level with 8 Eraser bots and it was a blast. If you're looking for a well designed and thought out DM level then download Armageddon 5, you wont be disappointed.
FireStarter
A good design that made a great 10 player game, but ran a bit jerky on my 200MMX. All the weapons are in the map and the placement is very good. Lot's of varied areas to the map, like box rooms, to open spaces, to under water areas - a very good mix of environments.
K.I.T.H.
A good design but too big. I didn't think there were enough weapons and I seemed to be stuck with the blaster for ages on our 10 player game. Also a bit jerky for lower spec machines.

A Sensual Pain
 senpain.zip    485K    3rd May 1998
10 and more ? Players      Created By: Unknown
This is BIG, with four bots and Fett in the game, I didn't get to see many people and only got 8 frags in a ten minute test game. There are some nice designs in this level, with plenty of boxes to force you to jump across to get weapons. Some good lighting and a strange opening box on the top level that doesn't seem to do much else ? This would be great on a big server.
K.I.T.H.
Excellent map for 10 or more players. Well thought out but a bit big, and easy to get lost even after a couple of games. Weapons are well placed too. Excellent for that big game.

Brutal Force
 fbdm5.zip    170K    10th August 1998
2 - 6 Players      Created By: Jens Andreasson
An excellent level. Lots of stairs in this level and a nice set of Wood textures.
No BFG in this level and weapons are hard to find with 6 or more.
(6 Deathmatch starts but you can add more bots for mayhem)
A great level for 50 kills in a 10 minute game !
K.I.T.H.
Really good level with a good choice of weapons and position for the weapons.
Ideal for 3-4 players and CFC !

Can Your Editor Do This ?
 2am.zip    165K    9th May 1998
2 Players (see text below)      Created By: Zied Rieke alias 2AM.
Well firstly the Author suggests 2 players, I tried this with Fett and 4 Bots and it was great. Secondly this is the most awesome designed level I have seen to date. The thought, design and construction that has gone into this is amazing. Basically it's a large roundish arena that features various platforms which you can go above and below around the outside. In the center of the room is what can be best described as a small moving maze with a large platform going across it overhead that the BFG lives on. It really has to be seen to be believed. The downside is slight jerkiness due to the amount of movement going on, but I find it runs fine on my 200MMX without 3d card. Please get this level just to see what can be done with Quake 2. And with the Eraser Bots fun is had by all !
K.I.T.H.
An excellent level which has a bit too much going on for my low end machine causing it to be a bit too jerky. Don't let this put you off though.

The Dark Base
 Dm6base.zip    305K    21st April 1998
2 - 12 Players      Created By: John "Tattoo" Schultz BowZer
This is a remake of my favourite Quake 1 Dm level The Dark Place. Its great fun with about 4 - 6 players and an excellent level for playing against bots. This map is quite small which makes for fast paced death and destruction. The teleportals are really cool, they done in a watery type effect. There is no BFG on this map and the rail gun takes a bit of time to get so watch your back. This level is great fun to play and gets the Fragem Rock thumbs up.

Deathmatch Level 7 of Doom 2 Remake
 d2m07_q2.zip    88K    10th May 1998
2 - 8      Created By: Sebastian Kleye aka. [ALDI]PaCMaN
GREAT ! - This was one of my favourite Quake 1 maps and it hasn't lost any of its appeal. Basically it's the old DM7 level from Doom 2 that was sooo popular way back when. The only difference being you can run along the top of the walls that separate the inner and outer parts of the level. The textures are a bit naff but I don't care - it's superb ! - A small download with a big chunk of gameplay - FRAGGGGGGG !
K.I.T.H.
Five hundred out of 5 - This level is great, I love it ! - Pure and simple Damage Incorporated - Get a Chain Gun and KILLLLLLLLL !
Fett
I was not much of a fan of this map in the days of Doom 2, mainly because I was crap at this level :), but put it in the Quake II environment and wow "Its a killing time". I love this level as its a campers nightmare and campers suck. Its only small but its big on body count :) GET IT NOOOOOOW

DeathMatch BattleGround 2

2 - 8 Players      Created By: Tiarnan Breffni
This is great little map if you want fast frag filled action. When I first loaded this map I thought "BORING", its a pretty simple design and the textures are quite bland but after playing it for a few minutes my thoughts turned to"FUN"( That`s what its all about anyway ).I play tested this with 5 bots which seemed about the right number but it would make a good 1 on 1 map to as you can navigate your way around it pretty quickly. It has multi levels which makes for great jumping down on your enemy type attacks, one of my favourite moves :-).Take the time to download this level and I guarantee that you will have fast frag filled fun, phew trying saying that when you`re drunk.

Fatality 2
 Fatal2.zip    491K    1st May 1998
4 - 20 Players      Created By: GiBFaCToRY
Fatality 2 is the second in the Fatality series of DM maps. The author recommends 12-20 players although it is playable with 4 and I found 10 a nice number with some Bots. The textures though very samey all the way through the level do look superb and the design of pipes and boxes works really well. There are a few lurking points but nothing a keen eye and a rail gun won't cure. Weapon placement is good as is the Quad, 200 Health and Silencer. Lighting is also very well done. Overall a very good level that I do go back to frequently but is a little on the larger side for my liking. ( I like small maps )
K.I.T.H.
Fatality 2 is one of my favourites and gets top marks from me. Great design with lots of multilevel platforms and even tunnels to crouch into. All the weapons are included in the level and are all quite accessible once you know where to get them which makes the weapon hunting fun. Although larger than many of my other favourites it scores highly through great design and good use of textures and lighting. Top Marks !

Grind
 Grind.zip    206K    20th April 1998
2 - 8 Players      Created By: Headshot AKA Dennis Kaltwasser
Grind is a good multi level map which plays well with up to 8 players.I play tested it with 7 bots which was a bit to hectic, a 2 on 2 team game which worked really well and a 1 on 1 game which was great. The weapon spread is good with the highest weapon being the Rail gun, there is no BFG in there to mess things up, sorry all you BFG nuts. This is another map with pretty bland textures but hey beauty is not everything.

Guns and Ammo
 severed1.zip    213K    10th May 1998
2 - 4 Players      Created By: Dan Proietti alias Danimal.
Good all round level. With 6 players weapons are hard to find and when you get them it's a challenge to keep hold of them and stay alive. The author does recommend 2-4 though. The only weapons are Grenades,Chain Gun,Super Shotgun and Rail Gun. Don't let this put you off though. There is also a nice teleport included (with the zip) and watch out if you use Eraser Bots, they take to this level very well.
K.I.T.H.
Good Level. Really good weapons choice and layout. The textures are good and the teleport position and texture is excellent. Get this level.
Fett

Heavy Metal
 Fixed1.zip    159K    30th September 1998
2 - 5 Players      Created By: Phil Chopp alias Retinal.
Fear In Your Eyes is a small map in KB and in playing size, the author designed this for 1 on 1 play but we prefer it with a BOT or two added for fragfest. As soon as I loaded up this level I was impressed. Compact design with no viable lurking positions which makes for a fun encounter. The target you are chasing is never in your sites for long, if they keep moving which makes for a skillful game, and with more than two it makes for a high frag count, as you tend to home in on 1 target.
Nice use of lifts and ladders and the lifts can be run over both ways despite being a tight gap (you'll have to try it to see what I mean.)
All the weapons except the BFG,Single Shotgun and Machine Gun are included but there is no real advantage to any of them which makes for a very varied game.
BOTS learn it quickly too and were very tough to beat.
Overall then a brilliant level that looks good runs super smooth and has that great one more game feel. Highly recommended.
K.I.T.H.
Excellent level ! Absolutely NO lurking. Good weapon selection and well placed too.
Get the Hyperblaster and KILL, KILL, KILL !!! - Love it lots.
Fett

HIP DM 1
 Hipdm1.zip    312K    10th May 1998
2 - 10 Players      Created By:  Michael Roska alias blueseed.
A strange level design this one, very original and very well done. I don't know how to describe it exactly. (need to do a screenshot) Ramps mostly with side walls that are just high enough to duck under. You can jump on the walls but beware, most of what is below is open space. (bye)
The Eraser Bots coped very well with this and made for a good fight. The textures are nice and the weapon placement is excellent. Could be a lurking level but essentially they are out in the open due to the excellent design. Highly recommended for a great change of scenery.
K.I.T.H.
All the weapons are in this level except the BFG and Machine Gun. I did find there was a lack of ammo when we played an 8 player game. The blackness could do with some stars maybe to break up the emptiness and I didn't like the textures. However I did like this level a lot and it made for a good fun game.

Homer's Arena
 homersq2-6.zip    180K    10th May 1998
4 - 10 Players      Created By: Dave Waters alias Homer.
A great symmetrical two floor runaround with a large arena room in the centre. Four doors from the main room connect to the outside corridor where lifts take you to the upper level. Then there are 4 small entrances (crouch) to bigger weapons, that then teleport you back to the main arena. That's it - simple and fantastic fun. The weapon placement is superb and the textures are good. FRAG !
K.I.T.H.
Almost as good as TFD in my books. I love the little rooms with the top weapons in. This is a really cool BFG and Hyperblaster level and the weapons seem to be there when needed. Love It !

Jabbar
 Jabbar.zip    214K    22nd April 1998
2 - 8 Players      Created By: Taltos [Noel Weer]
Jabbar is small tight level with not much open space for fragging. The deadly toxic slime makes an appearence here which is easily forgotten in the heat of battle, which happened to me on many fatal occasions. The author seems to like green which gives the whole level a damp mossy look to it, the trouble is the floors seem to blend in with the toxic slime so watch your step.Overall I liked this level and it works well with bots.

Jailhouse Frag
 crdm1.zip    171K    3rd May 1998
2 - 8 Players      Created By: Craig Redinger
Overall a very good level which I enjoyed immensely on first test. 4 - 8 players is an ideal setting for this level with the 6 we played with on first test being good. There is an excellent hidden teleport location and the doors are great as they open from top - down forcing you to wait agonizingly when somebody may be behind you. The textures are a bit plain but then it's a prison environment so what do you expect. All the weapons are included and are well placed with the only exception and my only criticism of the level being the BFG, which is in an open space like the rest of the weapons. I thought it would have been better in the concealed area. Overall then a very good level that I recommend to anyone.
K.I.T.H.
I liked this level a lot, the weapons are well placed with the exception of the BFG which needed to be in the teleport area really. Med packs too are well placed, there always seemed to be a chance for me to top up my health until the BFG came shooting past me. A great level for lovers of the Rocket Launcher, Chain Gun and Super Shotgun.

Japanese Garden
 japang.zip    776K    10th May 1998
5 - 14      Created By: Mike Burbidge alias g1zm0
Excellent level design. This level is so varied and only has a couple of your usual square rooms. Everything else is so varied it's a beauty to look at. The level itself is Japanese style with the paper sliding doors and gardens outside. It looks bloody huge when you first play it but soon you realise it's just a medium sized level. 6-8 players seemed ideal in testing with Fett and The Eraser Bots, and the Bots take to it well. All the weapons are included but i'm not too sure if you can actually get the BFG ?
K.I.T.H.
Really good level this one. Weapons are really well spread out but never seem too far away. The level is easy to learn once you realise it isn't as big as you first thought. The textures are good and there are loads of cool teleports. Tactics also change due to the slopes and strange layout and Line Of Site tactics with long range weapons are called for. Top marks.
Fett
Ah So, what ever that means :) I love this map, what a refreshing change from the normal gloomy Quake II levels, all it needs now is some cool Samurai skins to finish of the atmosphere. Mike has done great job with this map and pulls of the Japanese theme very well. I still cant workout how to get the BFG :( I highly recommend that you get this map for some Japanese fragging fun.

Painkiller
 Ztn2dm1.zip    162K    20th April 1998
2 - 6 Players      Created By: Sten Uusvali
This guy knows how to create a great looking level, every thing about this map is just dripping with professionalism.Sten has used some great textures which gives an overall brighter effect for the entire level, I wish more level makers would get away from those dark and gloomy textures. The multi level nature of this map gives plenty of opportunity for that death from above attack that I love so much, there is nothing like jumping into the unsuspecting enemy`s path and giving them an instant face lift.If you only download one map from here today I would highly recommend Painkiller.
FireStarter
This is definitely one of my current Top 10 maps. The level is essentially quite small but the nature of the layout and the multi layered levels make it appear to be bigger than it really is. The textures used are great and the lighting is very well done indeed. Teleports come in the guise of strange window type wall cavities and the one lurking point is easily got at from many angles. All weapons except the BFG are included and weapon placement is well thought out. Personally I love this level especially with 4 - 6 Bots, although it also suits a one on one. Get This Map NOW !
K.I.T.H.
This is a very good map, the lighting is great, the textures are good and all the weapons are well placed. The level is great with the Eraser Bots as they learn quickly due to its size. This level is also easy to learn for the new player. Highly recommended from me.

Refuelling Station
 2station.zip    204K    3rd May 1998
2 - 4 Players      Created By: Lari Muuriaisniemi a.k.a CryptR
I love this map, it's small with a few multi layered bits and has excellent textures. Fett hates this level because he's crap at it so I won't include his comments. The level also features a concealed door and some great fireworks ! Consists of only 3 main areas and some small lurking places which are easily dealt with when you know where to shoot. 4 player is mad and 6 is just mayhem. Fantastic level, highly recommended. 5/5
K.I.T.H.
I totally agree with K.I.T.H on this one, I played it against 4 Eraser bots, what a blood bath. Its fast paced action from the word go, no time to think on this level, think and your dead. This is what deathmatch is all about , fast furious killing :~)

Remorser
  remorser.zip     344K    22nd May 1998
2 - 6 Players       Created By: Steve Lyne alias - Scary-one
Another basic design makes another cracking deathmatch level. All the weapons are included and there is no real problem reaching any, even the BFG, although it's a bit of a trap if you get caught in the room it's in. A few teleports and a very low ceiling give you a nice claustrophobic feel. Had a great 6 player game with Fett and 4 bots ! - Like this lots.
K.I.T.H.
Great ! I love the teleport layout on this level. Every thing is very easy to find, even the BFG. The level is also a quick one to learn. Top marks from me.

I loved the mystic temple type setting for this level, its good to see a change from the normal industrial type textures. This level has been well designed to allow for good Death Match play. All you BFG10k Frag Heads better watch out for the grinding wheels :-) This level plays well with 8 players, I think 16 would be to much of a Frag Fest. Download Revenge I if you're looking for a good fun level with a change in scenery.

Excellent. A nice design with lots of overlapping corridors and great grates ! Unless you actually start next to the BFG then it is open to all angles on your way to get it, as is the Hyperblaster. This makes for great fun and the whole of the weapon placement is well thought out. There's also a fantastic window overlooking part of the level. Fantastic level with nowhere to hide. Top Marks.
K.I.T.H.
Excellent level, 6 out of 5 - The author designed this with 4 on 4 teamplay in mind but a 6 player game was excellent. Great weapon placement but no Chaingun (Fett's fave) - Overall a Great level and I didn't come last for a change. Reminds me of cloud city.

Spasmolytic Arena

2 - 4 Players      Created By: JWS
A symmetrical design map for Quake 2. All the weapons are included and it even includes two separate BFG's ! Sometimes though you never last long enough to use them. I really did love this level and since my first go it has had me back time and time again. Good textures with clever lighting and good use of switches to get the BFG. Author says 2-4 is best but personally I preferred 6. But I love a frag fest ! Excellent map and in my top 10 easily.
K.I.T.H.
A well made level that is very easy to learn. The weapons are all well placed and I like the design of it all. I'm afraid it's just not my cup of tea really. Overall Good.

Stroggos Funhouse
 funhouse.zip    611K    10th May 1998
2 - 8      Created By: Walter Costinak alias 2.
A Great Design but as a deathmatch level it just didn't quite grab me as much. The first time I played it, I thought it was great but i'm slowly thinking otherwise now. Architecture wise it is fabulous, features include a rotating drum of spikes which is awesome, a fantastic ladder to heaven where the BFG is, and the only way down is a splash into an acid bath. And there is also a great gateway that looks like a face. It still falls short for me, and the textures made me feel a bit ill too. Try before you die !
K.I.T.H.
A good level that I preferred the second time I played it. There are lots of weapons and the placement is good. The acid bath is an absolute bitch, but it's so tempting to go in after a BFG that someone has dropped after getting the drop wrong. And I couldn't quite get the hang of that twirly bit.

A good level with a good mix of indoor and outdoor, small and large areas. All the weapons are included but I can't get the BFG and Fett can ! The Eraser Bots play the level very well, too well nearly and my only gripe about the map is a lack of weapons once you re-start.
K.I.T.H.
Awesome Dood ! Really well laid out level, with weapons everywhere. There's also some really cool lurking spots. Love this level loads !

Yes Yes Yes - Get this level. It's small (one room, 3 boxes, ramps and a platform) and (only 48kb) and it rocks. Textures aren't brilliant, design is minimal so why get it ? 'cos it is soooo much fun. Whether one on one or with 9 Eraser Bots I just love this level. There is no where to hide and it really is a job to stay alive. My current record is 94 Frags in a ten minute game! Weapons are all but the BFG, Grenades + Launcher and Rocket Launcher. It's only a small download - GET IT !

The Gun

2 - 5 Players      Created By: Dennis Kaltwasser alias Headshot.
This is THE ONE for me. My favourite map, no question. Author says 2-5 players but we've played with 7 bots before now and it's awesome. 5 is ideal though. I just love the design which is simple but very well done if you take time to look. Fantastic windows look out to the planet outside, but you won't get time to look before somebody kills you. Fantastic placement of the weapons (but no Hyperblaster or Machine Gun) make this a real fight.
The BFG is in an underwater pool at the lowest end of the level, and the bots seem keen on guarding it too. A couple of lurking points do exist, but sometimes you need them just for a chance to breath. The level also includes Quake 1 style swirly space type teleports, and the instructions and file needed are included in this zip.
I cannot praise this level enough. GET IT !

This is a small multi level map which makes for a great death match experience. It has most of the weapons including the BFG, which can be a little tricky to get in the heat of battle. Some armour and limited ammo is dotted around the map including the awesome QUAD.The Killing Machine played really well with bots, which is good news for any of you who can`t get a fast Internet connection.Fragem Rock highly recommends The Killing Machine if you want to have a seriously fast paced fragathon.

Overall a very good level. A lovely design that looks a lot bigger than it actually is. There is a nice, fairly well concealed ladder to some health goodies which I like lots. Trouble is there is a ledge that you can see from a higher point which makes you think 'want it' - normally these are inaccessible forcing you to find in this case the ladder to get there, but no - in this level you can jump onto the ledge and get it, hence ruling out the ladder option. That was a big let down for me. Don't let that put you off getting this level though as it really is a good frag fest. The textures are also lovely as is the lighting. And the Bots take to this map very well indeed.

A good level that is well designed and built. I thought the weapon placement could have been better though.

A very well constructed level that reminded me of the detention block from Star Wars in places.
The map is of an enclosed (in door) nature which aids in smooth and fast gameplay even on lower spec machines. No jerks in this game apart from Fett :)
Nice textures chosen for this level and the lighting is great. I loved the use of multi level floors and lifts.
Level includes Grenades and launcher, Chain Gun, Rail Gun, Super Shotgun, Rocket Launcher and also a Super Health and Ammo Bag.
The Eraser Bots learn it very quickly and I recommend 5 players as does the author.

A medium sized map that plays well with more than the 4 suggested by the author in my opinion. The level itself has a great design with really nice textures and excellent use of water. I found the weapon placement a bit sparse and found myself using the rail gun constantly as it was easily accessible. Top feature for me is a huge ladder that goes from top to bottom, with little ledges to rest along the way. Overall very good indeed.

Nice level. This is well designed and built and has good textures. Not much health around but the weapon placement I thought was good. Fairly large and takes a while to learn.
Very Good.

Another medium sized map from Wiebo. This guy knows how to design maps. A good level in general, which is let down by the best feature. (what ? you may ask) It features a fantastic lift encased in green glass. Great effect but slows the game play down a tad too much for me. But don't let this put you off trying this map. It also features a nice concealed room and excellent weapon placement. Try It.

A good map but the big lift slows the game down on low spec machines. The weapons are well placed and some are hard to get to which makes for different tactics. Many a time I got shot in the back trying to get the super health. 10 Deathmatch starts are included but 4-6 seemed ideal to me. Good level.

Excellent - Top marks for this one. Looks plain to start with but once learned becomes a great Frag Palace. 42 kills in my first 10 minute game against 4 bots and Fett means a high kill rate !

Top marks from me too. I loved this one. Good textures and great weapon placement (no BFG included) - Excellent map.

Another excellent Deathmatch map with a high killing rate. With 4 or more players this level is mayhem, but fun based mayhem. This one is worth downloading, only if you love fast and furious maps though, campers need not apply you can just go and play with your tent pegs !!!!!!!
